The Happenin' Hills: August Update

At the beginning of this month we had the Annual Hill Family Reunion at Tie Lake...all Matt's siblings were there and 24 nieces and nephews!! It was a lot more laid back than previous years...i liked it. We did a 'fugitive' race...where the older grand kids in groups of two were dropped off across the lake ...they had to get back to our property without the adults catching them. That was a good time. Matt and I organized a 'water relay race' with 4 teams of 6...it involved dumping buckets on people, catching water balloons in a cup...3 leg race and more throwing water balloons followed by water diaper finish line...after all that was over..a water fight broke out with these water shooters that Barb and Ben brought, unfortunately it ended with a minor injury...but also a good time:) Sue organized the glow stick dance party at night with the karaoke machine, the kids and some adults had an awesome time (Matt and I were party poopers this year and went to bed for that...it was the 4 days that Grace was unbearable and waking up at 6am, and being all squished into Gramout's trailer so yeah we were tired). The last day was the talent show...we had to get home at a decent hour so we didn't take part. Sadly our camera stopped working after the first day and was fixed on the last day...its always the way...we headed back up to Tie 4 days later and stayed for another 4 went to some spray parks, but mostly just relaxed and watched movies. We invited Ben and Meagan to the Lake and had a fun time again...we dragged them to the Ward's Picnic Dinner at the public beach where I got to see first hand just how much 2 year old Paige enjoys the water:) lol
We boated of course and did the usual fun stuff, the weather was amazing! Meagan, Ammo and I ran 6.2km one morning which was awesome:) The boys went on a quad/motorbike adventure for 2 hours...Meagan and I swam across the lake and back...awesome again! Hailey (4 years old) inspired Parks to swim with JUST his life jacket on...NO floaty boat anymore!! That was such a huge accomplishment because Parks is such a wimp in the water...now he will go in with his life jacket and noodle all by himself which is also awesome cuz now we don't have to go with him every time he wants to swim:) LOVE IT! We still have our boat for sale....and it looks like we may have a buyer now from Saskatchewan..they looked at it on Thursday and were impressed and will take it out on Saturday for a test drive and than hopefully buy it! We shall see....as a result we wont be back at the lake for the rest of this month because of 'boat guy' and than its rented out:(
